I was just wondering if we were looking at running a winter series. I noticed that the SL will be finish on 5/11/09, and don't restart until 02/03/10. So in that window of time we could run a season. We could use the BMW's or look at other mods. I would say look at other mods, Mainly the V8factor (V8 Supercars) or the NAGT mod. I am just curious to see where everyone stands...

Down to interest really, I like the V8 mod but I have to question if others would, if we struggled for people with the BMW's which were close racing anyway then how is a more difficult car going to be better?

The newly release Clio Cup looks interesting but I hear its abit dodgy on the brakes, might be fixed though so I feel thats a good option. I feel we really need a car thats easy to drive without setting up but also not so fast that if one guy is awesome at it he fly's off into the distance. It should be about close racing and something like the Clio's would give that, either way I feel something abit slower(yes slower!) than the BMW's would be better.

My 3 mod suggestions would be any of these; Clio, Megane, Skoda. All easier and more basic then the BMWs, close racing guaranteed and many of us have driven them before (exept Clio's) so getting to grips with them wont be hard. Just use shortish touring car tracks rather then any longer tracks like Spa or Bathurst.

I'd be definitely interested in something running between november and feb / march, and I am delighted if the cars are something slower. There are lots of fun tracks out there for them, that we will never be able to use with faster cars, and this "winter slow-ass" series could become a fixture in the next years too.

In its first installation, it would need to run like this year's masters - on forums and/or a separate site as we will not be ready with the "multi-series" site until late february. But in any case, the more we race, the happier I am :D

Am also happy with the Weekend timeslot: although it's not the best for my participation (am often away on w-e), it offers something as opposed to the weekday superleague slot.

How about we de-tune the V8's to the BMW's power, and run them... I liked the BMW speed wise, just that the whole field was the same car... I like to see different cars out there... And the V8's are some really nice looking cars... Timeslot was great... Since I work second shift during the week, I can only race on weekends...

The V8's aren't easy cars to drive, and for a fun series, you want a car that people can turn up without practicing and get used to it pretty quick. The V8 takes a lot of practice and De-tuning it would defy the point really. And I see what you mean about having different cars on the grid, but then you might get comments about different cars having an advantage. There are a lot of single make championships anyways, so it's not like the BMW's are unrealistic.
I reckon the clios/skodas could be a good change being FWD, though if people wanted RWD the Megane or even BMW 1 series could be good cars.

Done some testing over the past couple of days with the 2008 clio and the Skoda's. The Clio's are good fun and a good mod, but they seemed quite heavy on graphics, so it got a bit jumpy on races. The Skoda's are a bit easier to drive, more stable and about 1 second faster over a lap at Brands Indy and races are fine. So I'd suggest the Skoda Octavia's for the series. Front wheel drive is a good change anyways and it's a lot easier to race close.

I have been testing the Skoda's as well, and they are a blast to drive... Would mean that we would have to get our cars painted.. But that is ok...

The rFactor Open Wheeler things aint bad, we could do track and oval racing with those, but they are quite quick and jittery.

About the winter series - what about Megane Trophy? They look fun to drive without being too fast.

I had some spare time so i got a list of tracks we could use - mainly some of the ones we didn't use in the Superleague but I still feel like racing:

-Ahvenisto
-Russian Ring
-Mo i Rana
-Laguna Seca
-Imola
-Brands Hatch

I think, with a comp lasting 6 races, we could get something done either by doing races on thursday (previous SL slot) and sunday, or having something straddling november and december.

We can get this started very soon if there is interest.
